My Letter to the Reporter

I live in Middletown, Connecticut. Right behind one of our elementary schools here. In fact, my back yard is pretty much the playground. They just let recess out and a week ago I would have complained about the screaming kids running around. Today, as I look out from my window, I welcome the noise, the laughter, the screaming, the freedom in running around. The beauty in being a child that young.
I see there is a police officer at recess today along with our children. And I say OUR children, because we all have a responsibility to each other. The police officer has never been there before today.

This is what we are coming to if we don't change: A police state, your personal rights infringed upon because of a small amount of EVIL and INSANE "human beings". Asshole reporters asking inappropriate questions at a VERY important press conference where our President is attempting to tell all of us in this country THE TRUTH, THE SOLUTIONS, the things we need to think about and discuss. (Who was that guy, and where can I write him a letter??)

The media has taken over. The violence has taken over. Gun control is not the ONLY solution, better mental health care is not the ONLY solution. They are BOTH solutions. They are BOTH correct. This is not about politics. Your right to bare arms does not also give you the right to own the kinds of weapons that cause MASS DESTRUCTION. These are the REAL weapons of mass destruction. Look, we have finally realized that they are RIGHT HERE.

Show the children love. Tell them why it's important to live in love. Teach the children peace. But first, learn it yourselves. I am still learning it myself. Peacefully protest within yourself. Turn off the TV, and tune into love. Just don't drop out of the fight.
*Inspired by the reporter who had the nerve to ask about the Fiscal Cliff (a media-coined term) as the first question in today's Presidential Press Conference concerning Gun Control and the recent events in Newtown, CT at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
